June Story of the Month

Hope and Healing Starts with Play

The Nomoto family is still navigating life after the Eaton fire turned their world upside down. In addition to losing their home, both children, Emmy (5) and Braydon (13), were displaced from their schools due to fire damage—a huge disruption during an already difficult time.

For their mom, Elizabeth, the weight of caring for her children’s emotional well-being in the wake of such trauma has been overwhelming. So, when she discovered that Young & Healthy, in partnership with The Center for Connection, was offering Free Play-Based Family Therapy sessions, she felt incredible relief.

The entire family signed up for the six-week program, led by a licensed therapist. Through play and conversation, they will learn how to express the big feelings that have come with the big changes—fear, sadness, confusion, and even hope. These sessions will give the Nomotos space to heal together and begin finding their way forward.

At Young & Healthy, we know that healing doesn’t happen overnight. That’s why we’re also continuing to provide gift cards for families displaced or impacted by the fires. It’s a small way to say: You’re not alone.

Recovery is a journey—and we’re here for you every step of the way.

At Young and Healthy we have found a simple solution to a complex problem.
