When It Rains, It Pours
Esmeralda, a recent immigrant to the United States, came to Young & Healthy for help with Medi-Cal enrollment. She is a single mom currently living in Pasadena with her two sons, Gabe and Jose.
This past year has been especially difficult for Esmeralda. She had to evacuate due to the Eaton Fire and had recently lost her job. The financial strain has taken a heavy toll on her family.
At Young & Healthy, we were able to help Esmeralda get the health coverage she needed, and more. We provided her with two $100 grocery gift cards, a gesture that moved her to tears. Every bit of support matters when you’re facing so much at once.
We also enrolled her son Jose in our Vision Clinic, where he received a full eye exam and brand-new glasses to replace his broken, taped-up ones.
Sometimes, when it rains it pours. But in those moments, Young & Healthy is here to offer an umbrella of support – compassion, care and hope when it’s needed most.
