Taxes Shouldn’t Be Emotionally Taxing
Eva, a 30-year-old woman, arrived at our Saturday Tax Preparation session distressed after receiving an unexpected IRS penalty for lacking health insurance. She had, in fact, been insured—but the person who previously prepared her taxes failed to include the necessary verification form. Understandably frustrated and anxious about the fine, Eva turned to us for help. With the support of our dedicated Cal State LA VITA partners, we were able to file an amendment on her behalf, successfully removing the penalty. More than just correcting a mistake, we restored her peace of mind—and ensured her current year’s taxes were filed accurately and on time.
