Flourishing Together
As 2025 comes to a close, we reflect on the many families who have become part of our Young & Healthy family this year. Among them is the Martinez family, who first came to Young & Healthy in February for a gift card to help with essential needs after losing their home in the Eaton fire. The family includes two children ages 8 and 4 as well as Ralph, their grandfather, who lives with them.
Just months later, Ralph was diagnosed with a brain tumor and required surgery. We stood alongside the family helping secure his Medi-Cal insurance. We also welcomed the entire family into our play-based therapy sessions where together they began to work through the trauma of the fire. In July, all three children received comprehensive vision screenings and eye exams at our vision clinic.
Because of our ongoing relationship with the Martinez family, this holiday season they will receive a $1,000 Save the Children grant administered by Young & Healthy, and they will be one of our sponsored Christmas families – support we hope will make their celebrations a little brighter.
This year has brought significant challenges, but we look ahead with hope that, with continued support and care, 2026 will be a year in which we all flourish together.
